Many people know the Purim story. The Jewish people celebrate the fun and festive holiday every year. But how often do you think about the fact that King Achashveirosh, the Purim story king, is so ignorant? How could he be so unaware of his surroundings and reality? Well, just take a look at what we have today in the U.S. President Biden has no idea what’s going on. It’s quite frightening. And yet, we have seen this before in Jewish history.
The good news is that we know in the end, the Jewish people will always be saved. We don’t know when or how exactly the salvation will come, but G-d always protects His people. He has an eternal covenant with us. Even when things look bleak, we must keep praying and keep believing. Even when the king (or president) seems like he’s out to get us, just remember that G-d is watching over the Jewish people forever.
Every year, the Purim story takes on new meaning. This year, with this idea, we can understand more how King Achashveirosh was the king of so many provinces and yet was totally clueless about what was really happening around him.
