The Shimon HaTzaddik neighborhood is a flashpoint between Arabs and Jews and is the site of the grave of Shimon HaTzaddik. Until 1948 it had been a Jewish neighborhood until the British allowed the neighboring Arabs to massacre the people living there.
Today Jews are moving back into Shimon HaTzaddik and experiencing increased attacks.
Just before the election MK Itamar Ben-Gvir was himself attacked by rock throwers – he had to protect himself by drawing his weapon on the attackers.
