What’s Really Going On With The Ceasefire?

As of the writing of this post the ceasefire for hostages deal between Israel and Hamas appears to be stalled despite the fact that President-Elect Trump, Joe Biden, and the Prime Minister of Qatar all announced that a deal has been struck. However clear their statements were, the immortal words of Yogi Berra – “It’s not over, until it’s over” ring true.

Despite Hamas’ agreement two major sticking points continue to be a problem for them. The first is that they want to have control over the murderers they want Israel to release and they also want Israel to evacuate from the Philadelphi Corridor already in the fist stage of the deal. According to sources Hamas already agreed with Israel’s position on these items - so why the backtrack at the last second?

Let’s be honest. This deal is a bad one. It weakens Israel, doesn’t get back all the hostages, and also weakens the US resolve against Jihadist terrorism. Both the Trump team and the Netanyahu government know this, so why push for a deal now when after January 20th a new deal more to everyone’s liking would have the possibility to manifest. The answer is clear - Biden or more specific the Biden team. Despite Trump projecting himself as being in charge – he legally is not. The Biden team holds all the cards and if Trump and Bibi do not play ball, the Biden team can take down Israel at the UN with the remaining days left.

Biden and Blinken want this deal. It not only weakens Israel, but throws a big monkey wrench in the Trump vision for the Middle East’s future. After all, the Trump team does not want to seem like its giving into Jihadists as well as the Qatar-Turkey axis that not only is a problem for Israel, but also the UAE, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia.

As of tonight, the deal still looks like it may go forward, but one thing is clear, even if the first phase does go through - don’t expect it to last. Mike Waltz, the incoming National Security Advisor has made it clear - ”If Israel needs to go back into Gaza, they will have the full support of the USA. Hamas cannot be allowed to control the strip.”

For the Abraham Accords to expand, the IDF must be allowed to pacify Gaza and rid it once and for all of the death cult called Hamas and its partners like Islamic Jihad. Only then will the Muslim Brotherhood truly be defeated.
