Ron DeSantis is not new to being a stalwart supporter of the State of Israel. More than a decade ago, when he was an up and coming Congressman, DeSantis revealed his deep understanding of the issues as it relates to Israel. His policies on Israel largely match the policies of Marco Rubio, a former Senator from Florida. DeSantis should not be ignored on the national scale, even if he is not at present a leading candidate for President.
DeSantis on Israel: "I don’t care what some imbeciles on a college campus say. I don’t care what liars in the media say. I don’t care what reprobates at the United Nations say. We stand with Israel! The United States will have their back!"🔥 https://t.co/6c1CGna265

DeSantis is a heavyweight with an excellent track record of governance. Additionally, his ability to see Florida through the coronavirus crisis should be emulated by all about how to deal with a complex and challenging unexpected crisis that a leader is faced with.
If Gavin Newsom rises to become the leading candidate on the Democrat side of the aisle, the idea of DeSantis facing him with his Florida track record presented versus the California track record under Newsom will be very powerful.
JD Vance will probably be too smart to confront President Trump before the end of Trump’s 2nd term, and will probably be the frontrunner heading into the Republican Presidential primaries. But DeSantis is a force that Vance would be wise to bring into his administration if Vance wins the nomination.
As opposed to President Trump, DeSantis has an understanding of world affairs that does not view nearly all world affairs as transactional. DeSantis would never be fooled into trying to negotiate Iran into submission. He understands the religious fervor of Islamic militants and knows that this is truly a battle of civilizations.
The question though is whether or not DeSantis (or Vance) would have the guts that Trump has shown to have – to confront evil where others were only willing to talk. The attack on Iran was something that was supported by numerous countries in the Middle East who will never admit it. But the fact of the matter is that the entire Middle East is on the brink of a peaceful future if Iran becomes deradicalized via a Western-led counter revolution. As of now, it appears that Trump has chosen the Cuba model by attempting to starve Iran economically. This will only work if Russia and China are not able to keep resuscitating Iran via land shipments.
For Iran’s dictatorship to fall, it will probably require another attack by the West and Israel coordinated with a revolt from inside Iran and Kurdish rebels. What Trump and DeSantis both understand is that one needs to dismiss the UN and other entities filled with imbeciles who will scream bloody murder when any use of force by the US military is used. DeSantis is indeed a worthy leader who belongs on the world stage in one capacity or another.
