In this CNN interview with Jake Tapper, DeSantis focuses well on winning the suburban mom vote. The questions that Tapper poses what DeSantis believes in on the abortion issue were also handled well by DeSantis. Shapiro points out that DeSantis is not anywhere close to as entertaining as Donald Trump. This is absolutely true.
Does Ron DeSantis have a better chance of winning in the general election? Yes. But, the first hoop that needs to be cleared is the primary, and that does not look good for DeSantis. Many Republican voters are still angry about the 2020 election, and most will vote for Donald Trump.
Shapiro says it very bluntly. If the issue is entertainment, then Donald Trump will win. If the issue is winning the election against the Democrats, then DeSantis, or any of the other candidates will win. It’s looking like it will be DeSantis in 2028.
