The secret to Jewish survival lies in this Passover song

by Leah Rosenberg

Jewish survival is a mystery for some. But if you believe in G-d, the mystery is solved. G-d is the one Who always saves the Jews.

Jewish Survival

The Jews have been persecuted century after century. But the nation of Israel always seems to survive. So, what is the secret to Jewish survival? G-d’s Divine Providence. G-d’s special love and promise to always keep the Jewish people alive.

And that is one of the messages of Passover. Here are the words in English to this song that is sang Passover night: “And this (the promise) is what kept our fathers and what keeps us surviving. For, not only one arose and tried to destroy us, rather in every generation they try to destroy us, and Hashem saves us from their hands.”

The Babylonians. The Persians. The Romans. The Greeks. The Crusaders. The Nazis – it doesn’t matter who came to try to destroy the Jews, no one succeeded in bringing down the nation of Israel. Some tried to destroy the Jews physically, and some tried to destroy the Jews spiritually. But no matter what, the Jewish people survived. Generation after generation, people try to wipe out the Jews. No one has learned from history that G-d is protecting the people of Israel eternally.

And every year on Passover, the Jews have a specific time dedicated to remembering that G-d has kept His promise and will continue to do so. Things may at times seem dismal and frightening, but G-d will never forsake His people.
