Russia Slams Israel’s Strike On The Damascus Airport As Vicious

Russia has turned up the heat on Israel after it became clear that Israel’s early morning missile strike damaged the Damascus Airport.

Syria has since halted flights from Damascus until further notice. “As a result of this damage, all arriving and departing flights at the airport have been suspended until further notice,” the Transport Ministry said in a statement.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights claimed that the passenger halls were being used to stored weapons delivered by Iran and meant to be going to Hezbollah.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian condemned the attack as a “clear violation of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity… (and) contrary to international law and human principles”, in a phone call with his Syrian counterpart Faisal Mekdad, Iran’s state media reported.

Russia condemned the attack and released the following statement:

“We are compelled to reiterate that the ongoing Israeli shelling of the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic, in violation of the basic norms of international law, is absolutely unacceptable. We strongly condemn Israel’s provocative attack on the most important object of the Syrian civilian infrastructure.”

Ever since Israel picked Ukraine’s side in their conflict with Russia, it has become clear that Russia is no friend of the Jewish State. The challenge now is how to maintain pressure on Iran and Hezbollah without being sucked into a wider conflict.

Unfortunately, it may already be too late.
