Israel Moves To Block The PA From Jerusalem

The Bennett-Lapid government has asked the Biden administration to hold off on reopening the US consulate in Jerusalem for the “palestinians” until after Israel passes a budget.

Ever since the Trump administration moved the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, the consulate handling “palestinian” arab affairs was closed. Biden was clear from the beginning of his presidency that he wanted to reopen the consulate in Jerusalem, but he is holding back.

Why?

Because he is very wary of causing rifts in the Bennett-Lapid coalition that would allow Netanyahu to come back. He knows that Jerusalem is a hot button issue and so is holding back until after a budget is passed – if a budget is passed.

However, PM Bennett is said to be against the reopening of the consulate no matter what and so the budget issue is merely an excuse to keep pushing it off. If Bennett is serious about not folding on this subject he may have to stand up against the Biden administration in a more open manner – if his government lasts that long.
