The High Power Laser Defense System
The Israeli Ministry of Defense, Elbit Systems Ltd, and the Israeli Air Force have completed a series of interception tests employing an airborne, high-power Laser system – with success! Israel is among the first in the world to show that they have such abilities. A high power laser system was installed on an aircraft and tested in a number of scenarios. UAVs were launched during the test, and the system successfully intercepted and destroyed 100% of them. Israel is working to develop an advanced airborne laser system that will add another layer to Israel’s multi-tier defense lineup, complementing the Iron Dome and David’s Sling and Arrow systems. This is just the first phase in a multi-year program.
It is important to note how much Israel invests in its defense systems. That says a lot about the Jewish state. They are not out to attack; rather, they just want to live peacefully. But if they have to defend themselves, they are going to work to be the best at it.
