This was such a terrible tragedy. In the middle of the night/early Thursday morning, a condo building in Surfside, FL, a town in Miami-Dade County, collapsed out of nowhere. Residents were sleeping in their beds as half the building came down. The scenes of the condo collapse and of teams looking for survivors is hard to watch. People are still hoping their loved ones are alive.
The IDF has sent rescue teams to help in the effort to recover those who are missing. United Hatzalah of Israel has also sent a team from its Psychotrauma and Crisis Response Unit.
Surfside has many Jewish residents. Some of those missing are Jewish, and some are not. But the entire world is praying for everyone. It is heartbreaking. No one should ever have to experience such a heartbreaking tragedy.
This one family from New Jersey survived. They now have to live with the trauma of this terrifying event. You can hear the father say how he is not sure he can ever go back.
Let’s all hope and pray together that those missing will be found alive and that the families of those who have perished will be comforted.
