WhatsappHezbollah launched a barrage of rockets toward Israeli forces operating in southern Lebanon a short while ago, further escalating tensions along the volatile northern border and raising renewed concerns that the fragile ceasefire understandings in the area may be steadily collapsing.
Air raid sirens sounded across the northern Israeli city of Kiryat Shmona as well as several nearby border communities after the launches were detected. According to the IDF, multiple rockets crossed into Israeli territory. Israeli air defense systems intercepted some of the incoming projectiles, while others landed in open areas near the border. The military said no injuries were reported and no major damage was immediately identified.
The latest attack comes amid growing Israeli military activity inside southern Lebanon, where IDF ground forces have continued targeted operations against Hezbollah infrastructure, weapons depots, launch positions, and tunnel networks. Israeli officials have repeatedly warned that Hezbollah’s continued attacks constitute a direct violation of the understandings reached after previous rounds of fighting and could trigger a broader Israeli response.
In a separate incident shortly after the rocket barrage, Hezbollah also launched an explosive drone toward northern Israel. The drone successfully crossed into Israeli territory and impacted near the Lebanese border. The IDF later confirmed that fragments from the drone strike were identified inside the Israeli community of Shomera, highlighting Hezbollah’s ongoing effort to combine rocket fire with increasingly aggressive UAV attacks.
Over recent months, Hezbollah has expanded its use of drones in attempts to challenge Israeli air defenses, gather intelligence, and strike military or civilian targets near the border. Israeli defense officials have warned that the group’s growing UAV capabilities, heavily supported by Iran, represent one of the most serious evolving threats on the northern front.
The IDF is reportedly continuing to assess the incidents while maintaining heightened readiness across northern Israel.
