Rumors abound about Hezbollah storying weapons at Beirut’s International Airport. The story has so much backing to it, Lebanon’s own media demanded to take a stroll around to some of the hangars only to be rebuffed by Lebanese authorities.
Hezbollah has often times been falsely described as a Iranian militia in Southern Lebanon, but the reality is that it essentially controls the Lebanese government and has a heavy presence in Beirut itself. The now famous nitrate explosion that took place on August 4th 2020 in Beirut, most likely the result of massive amounts of confiscated ammonium nitrate linked to Hezbollah caused at least 218 deaths, 7,000 injuries and $15 billion in property damage, as well as leaving an estimated 300,000 people homeless.
Hezbollah not only uses the Beqa Valley and the Damascus-Beirut highway to bring Iranian weapons into Lebanon, but the Beirut Airport as well. Despite denials from the Hezbollah affiliated head of the airport - workers there describe large shipments that have increased after the Gaza war began that they are forbidden to inspect.
“If they keep bringing in these goods I’m not allowed to check, I really believe I’ll die from the explosion or I’ll die from Israel bombing ‘the goods,’” one of the whistleblowers said. “It’s not just us, it’s the ordinary people, the people coming in and out, going on holiday. If the airport is bombed, Lebanon is finished.”
The war that has been raging in Israel’s North since October 8th is about to expand to something we have not seen. In order to win, Israel must use overwhelming force all over Lebanon. Expect the Beirut Airport to be wiped off the face of the Earth in the opening moments.
