We Were Delegitimized by Our Government in Israel Too

Lets talk: Antisemitism on the left & right, massive delegitimization and modern Israeli history…

We are living through crazy times. But, I want to throw some optimism into the mix. I’m not a Rabbi and not a prophet either, but it definitely seems like the Mashiach is getting closer. The Jewish people are home. We are building up the land of Israel to be a light unto the nations in so many ways, and at the same time, what is going on around the world is getting crazier and crazier. The Rabbis teach us that crazy things will happen before Mashiach comes. Maybe…Just throwing some optimism into the mix of a crazy reality that is literally tearing our societies apart.

Unfortunately, returning back to the day-to-day, what is going on around us, especially in the US, is very scary. I’m referring to the societal tensions, the divisions, and the scary delegitimization campaign of a whole public, which has gone into high gear by big-tech companies.

To put things into perspective, I have to go back to what we in Israel experienced back in 1995 after Israeli Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin was assassinated. The whole right-wing/religious community in Israel was delegitimized. That public atmosphere lasted for years. It was extremely toxic. And the whole political/media world in Israel constantly promoted the message that we, the whole right-wing/religious community, were a danger to Israel and a danger to democracy.

Fast-forward to Israel in the year 2005. Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon bulldozed through his plan to destroy all the Jewish communities in Gaza and expel all the 10,000 Jews in Gaza from their homes, all as a trial for “peace” with our Arab neighbors.

The Israeli justice system gave him carte-blanche to bulldoze every democratic norm in pushing through the plan to make Gaza Judenrein. Sharon fired the Ministers in his Cabinet who were against the plan so he can get a majority vote in the Cabinet. He promised to abide by an internal Likud membership referendum on the plan and then, even though the plan was rejected by the Likud membership, he pushed through with the plan anyway.

But the worst of the worst is that while half the country was out in the streets protesting, our democratic rights were trampled upon, all with the approval of the justice system.

– Buses were stopped in the streets from traveling to protests.

– Police were ordered to remove their name tags and use violence against peaceful protestors.

– The army was brought out to stop a massive march in Kfar Maimon, even threatening the protest leaders that they would shoot anyone who continues marching.

– Special jails were set up to hold all the teenagers who were arrested at protests, with judges calling for them to be re-educated.

– And even worse than all that, the establishment media, in Israel and across the Jewish world, painted the Jewish families of Gush Katif and all their supporters protesting in the streets, as enemies of peace and a danger to Israeli democracy.

I was one of those protestors. I took part in each and every stage of the protest movement, even infiltrating into Gush Katif to try to help as much as I could to stop the disastrous Gaza expulsion plan from being implemented.

You know what the politicians and media said about those of us in Gush Katif/Gaza? That we would kill IDF soldiers as part of our struggle to stop the plan.

It was a blatant and horrific lie, promoted by all the major media outlets at the time. We are all IDF soldiers, our brothers, fathers, cousins, friends, neighbors are all IDF soldiers. There is no way we would raise a hand or weapon against them. Yet, the politicians and the media promoted that narrative daily, to further convince the public that we were a danger to Israel and Israeli democracy. It was horrific.

Some of the communities in Gush Katif held official ceremonies handing over their IDF issued guns, that they used to help protect their communities together with the IDF, just to prove to the rest of Israel and the world that the horrendous slanderous campaign against them was a lie.

I was so disgusted by the way political leaders, Jewish community leaders in Israel and abroad, and the whole Israeli/Jewish world media joined on the bandwagon to delegitimize the whole community of Jews who opposed the disastrous Gaza disengagement plan.

They all created a huge division within the Jewish world. We didn’t create the division! The politicians, Jewish communal leaders, media outlets and journalists that painted us all as a danger to democracy and potential murderers, created the division.

Now fast forward to today in the United States of America. For four years the American and Jewish public has been fed outright lies that President Trump is a racist, antisemite. That he encourages antisemitism, that America is turning into a dangerous Nazi-like country with him as a leader since he is like Hitler. Lies, lies and more lies. The man is no saint, as none of us are saints, but he is no racist, no antisemite, nothing like Hitler and not leading America to be a Nazi-like state. But that is the message the world has been fed for four years. Today, a large section of American Jewry believes those lies.

Now, what are we witnessing in America is a horrific delegitimization campaign of the whole conservative community who dare be conservative, who dare have supported Trump, who dare raise questions about the integrity of the 2020 elections.

All of a sudden, it is now celebrated to shut down their voices, shut down platforms that allow them to voice their opinions. They are all a danger to America, a danger to democracy.

And because the world is much more global today, with big-tech, this is a global delegitimization campaign. Anyone, like me, who dares voice questions about the elections or about what happened at the Capitol building on Jan. 6th, or still “dares” to voice positive thoughts about President Trump, is attacked and shamed for daring to voice our opinions that go against the narrative of the establishment media.

What this is doing is shutting people down. Who wants to be attacked for voicing an opinion? Nobody. Yet, that is exactly what is going on.

Do you know what most people, Rabbis, community leaders and journalists who think differently are doing today? They are shutting up. Nobody wants to be shamed and humiliated by their fellow friends, family members, community members, co-workers etc.

Now, let’s talk about antisemitism, because most people have been brainwashed to believe that the most dangerous threat to America today is white supremacists. Really? Like, really?

Anyone who has been following me knows that I have been talking about the growth of antisemitism on the right and the left for years. Yes, there is a dangerous trend on both sides.

However, as I have continuously explained, the antisemitism on the left is much, much, much more dangerous today in America. Why? Because it is supported by elected officials in the Democratic party! Conservatives denounce antisemites on the right. Yet, Democrat elected officials openly embrace the leftist antisemites. They are also elected to office and have powerful positions in DC. The “squad” is a bunch of antisemites. Anyone who openly supports boycotting Israel is an antisemite. They are already in power and they have supported the growing danger of the antifa and black lives matter anarchists which is has been actually destroying America. Both of these movements are very much antisemitic and are much more dangerous than right-wing extremists who have no power.

Now, I know what some people will say. How can I ignore the fact that right-wing extremists support Trump? The Charlottesville marchers screaming “Jews will not replace us”? Right-wing conspiracy theorists who rail against the “globalists” and the “Rothschilds”, all dog whistles for Jews. How can I ignore all that?

Yes, as I said above, antisemites exist on the right as well. But, Trump is not one of them, he did not support them, he did not encourage them and they have no political power.

The people today screaming “antisemitism” on the rfar-right are totally oblivious, and some even embracing, of the antisemitism on the left. It is sick.

The left today supports the fascist step of shutting down conservative voices and platforms. They are the bigger danger.

The scary thing is that by shutting down conservative voices & platforms and celebrating the growing delegitimization campaign against conservatives and Trump supporters, the left and their supporters in big-tech are inviting a full-blown cultural conflict that will lead to greater violence across the country, violence from both sides. When people feel they are being shut down with no recourse, that will lead to violence. And we Jews will suffer more than others, getting hit from both sides. That is what I have been trying to wake people up to.

Communist countries delegitimize populations and shut down their voices. Nazi Germany delegitimized the Jewish population and shut down the voices of any sane German that opposed it.

All Americans should now be extremely afraid of the massive delegitimization campaign against Conservatives taking place in America today. It is a dangerous step that is extremely unhealthy for societies.

I care deeply for a peaceful future, and a future of unity, not just for the Jewish people but for humanity.

It saddens me to see the deep division happening right before our eyes. Family and friends actually disconnecting because people are literally living in alternative universes based on the media sources they rely on.

To end on some optimism, good times are coming. Hold on to your faith, stick to your values and beliefs. Do not let the mob shut you up. And most importantly, stay healthy and safe!

We are living in miraculous times, just look at the return of the Jewish people to Israel. Sometimes, miraculous times also have pitfalls. All we have to do is remind ourselves of the Exodus from Egypt.

Praying for unity. Praying for sanity. Praying for a better future.
