As the fog of the terrible events of October 7th fades, the stories of heroism from that fateful day abound. In the months and years following the massacre and taking of hundreds of Israeli hostages by Hamas terrorists, thousands upon thousands of young and not-as-young Israeli soldiers risked their lives in order to save and rescue Israeli hostages from the hands of the bloodthirsty terrorists.
Most Israelis did not believe that Israel would somehow succeed in bringing back every last Israeli hostage. Every single person involved in this prolonged war is a hero. Unfortunately, many hostages returned lifeless and hundreds of Israeli soldiers were killed in battle.
But the tragic story and the story of heroism are clearly intertwined. There is simply no way to perceive the enormity of the miracles that Israel has been experiencing without seeing the tragedies in front of our eyes due to the enormity of suffering. And on the flip side there is no denying the heroism of the volunteers who came from all walks of life and threw themselves into the line of fire with absolute selflessness in order to do the right thing.
Noa Argamani was one of the faces who’s suffering on October 7th was etched into the minds of millions of people in Israel and across the world. When she was rescued, millions of people and hundreds of thousands of Israeli soldiers were able to smile knowing that they were on the side of what is good, just, and right. Evil will sometimes win out, but only in the short term. In the end, it is G-d above and on earth that guides everything. The Israeli Army is presently the outstretched arm of G-d himself. Perhaps that explains the unbelievable spirit that so many feel when serving G-d in the Israeli Army uniform.
