US Attacks Iranian Proxy Militias In Syria

The Biden administration may be trying to woo Iran back to the negotiating table, but its overnight attack on Iranian proxies in Syria puts into question that strategy – or does it?

With the Biden administration’s full court press to bring Iran back to the negotiating table in full swing, the question arises in connection to the US military’s strike on Iranian bases – why would Biden order an attack?

On one hand the US is hoping to bring Tehran back to the table and yet, the US understands that the Iranians cannot be trusted. However, this strike was perhaps meant to be just as much a message to Israel as it was to the Iranians. The US wants to ensure Israel that it has its back even if Iran comes back to the negotiating table. The best way to do that is to hit Iran in Syria, despite the Iranian interest in coming to the table.
