It is amazing how many Jews have come home to Israel throughout the decades. Even before Israel became an official modern state, Jews came!
Home to Israel
What is it like to come home to Israel? Well, what would it feel like to come back to your house after being away for a long time? Comforting, exciting. Sometimes, you can’t describe the feeling.
Israel is the homeland of the Jewish people. So for Jews who have never been to Israel or who are (were) longing to make it their official home, the homecoming is unreal. The thing about your home is that it is meant just for you. And that is how Israel is.
Everyone wants to feel like they belong. And that is what Israel is as a homeland.
What Changes and What’s the Same
The people, places, and methods of coming back to Israel might have changed throughout the ages. Most do not take a boat to move to Israel. Nor do they ride camels or walk. But one thing that has not changed is the spirit and determination to come back home to Israel. It is not easy no matter who you are or where you come from. Some people leave jobs behind and a life of wealth. Others leave family behind. Everyone is leaving some type of comfort and coming to the unknown.
But even if you do not know what awaits you when you come home, just knowing you are home makes it worth it, whatever the challenges may be.
