On one day, October 7th, a massive call-up began of approximately 300,000 Israeli soldiers took place. Israel was thrown into a massive whirlwind of all-out war against a vicious enemy on its southern border, with an even greater threat from it’s northern flank via the Hizbullah. What had been warned for years about the lethal threats from Iran via their proxies in and around Israel became stark reality.

The enormous sense of unity that has overwhelmed Israel on that fateful day is all the more shocking as it came right after a time of an unprecedented lack of unity. Israel was deeply divided on many issues, led by a small rabble that grew into a massive national movement to split apart the nation. That has all disappeared like clouds that have been swept away by a strong wind.

But what Jeremy Gimpel so aptly noticed is that the sense of unity that is felt by so many in Israel is actually mirrored by the enormous outpouring of support, concern, and sense of horror that so many people across the world feel towards the State of Israel. This was seen by the nearly 300,000 supporters of Israel who came from all over the United States in order to express their support for Israel, distaste at the horrible open displays of support for the homicidal and sub-human Arab terrorists of Hamas.

The total number of 600,000 from within and outside of Israel does indeed have major Biblical connotations. That number is mentioned in the Bible as the number during the Exodus from Egypt and in the census in the desert. In modern times, that number of people lived in the Land of Israel during the War of Independence at the formation of the State of Israel, and the IDF in 1967 also had 600,000 soldiers in the Army and reserves. We are truly living in amazing times.
