The victory of the Jewish people over the Nazis in one song

This is unique, uplifting, and a good reminder that the Jewish people are here to stay. The timing of when this song was written says it all.

The Strength of the Jewish People

The Jewish people have been oppressed, tortured, and murdered time and time again. Century after century, decade after decade. Pogroms, the Holocaust, and more. And yet, the Jewish people are still here. Not only are they here, but they are strong. They are thriving.

The singer, Joey Newcomb, said on the bottom of the YouTube video, “I was privileged not too long ago to go on a trip to Europe to visit the places of our past. One of the toughest days was the day that we visited the Nazi death camps and we were all down and broken as we thought about what took place at such a place of destruction. Needless to say it was an emotional day. That night we went to krakow. And as we were Davening (praying) Maariv (the evening service) in the Rema’s shul (synagogue) I started to experience a different feeling. I thought to myself, after all we’ve been through we’re still here if not stronger. I started to think about the words “Mi K’amcha Yisroel” until this song came down.”

This is the victory of the Jewish people! The Nazis tried to defeat them, but they are still here. And they are not going anywhere.

The Song

The song is called “Mi K’amcha Yisroel,” which means “Who is like Your nation, Israel.” The other words in the song are “Ashreinu ma tov chelkeinu u’mah na’im goraleinu,” which means “We are happy, how goodly is our lot, and how pleasant is our fortune” (Translation courtesy of Chabad.org).

It is so beautiful that even after the horrendous suffering that the Jewish nation has experienced over time, they are still proudly singing these words.
