Most People Would Give Up
If you saw what Israel was like 150 years ago, you would never have given the Jewish state a chance. Even 70 years ago, it was nothing like it is today. Most people would have given up. But because the Jewish people are so connected to the Jewish homeland, they did not give up. Because people do not give up when something is so dear to them; when something is home. 150 years ago when Mark Twain visited Israel, he said about Israel that it “sits in sackcloth and ashes. Over it broods the spell of a curse that has withered its fields and fettered its energies.” He called the land of Israel “desolate.”
But prophecies are coming true before our eyes. The land is once again blooming and flourishing. And it is definitely a sight to see!
