A Hanukkah Miracle
The Jewish people still celebrate what happened throughout history. Holidays and customs remind us of times long ago. We sing songs, say prayers, and celebrate or mourn what has happened to us throughout the centuries. But we also have to recognize that in modern times, miracles are happening all around us.
A Hanukkah miracle is not just a thing to hope for today. Miraculous things ARE happening today! Take a look at the Jewish state! The state of Israel is surrounded by countries that want to destroy it. Israel is a tiny sliver of land. But G-d has continued to protect the Jewish army and the Jewish people. They have won wars that seemed impossible to win. They have returned home to their homeland after thousands of years of exile. And it is nothing short of miraculous!
Faith
Faith in G-d has kept the Jewish people alive. When hope seemed to have been completely lost throughout the darkest times in Jewish history, faith took over. And look where it has brought the people of Israel. It has led them to miracles.
As Israel’s first prime minister David Ben-Gurion said, “In Israel, in order to be a realist you must believe in miracles.” That cannot be more true. Look around in Israel – miracles are happening everywhere. You just have to open your eyes. And then you’ll merit to see Hanukkah miracles all around you.
