Yemen has no border with Israel. It is separated by Saudi Arabia’s vast desert. It has never been considered a serious foe of the State of Israel. Now, it is part of a three – four prong attack on the State of Israel. The Yemen front, admittedly, is the largest surprise of this war.
Israel’s main concern following October 7th was that Hizbullah would not join in the attack. Moreover, Israel was concerned that Iran would themselves join their proxies in attacking Israel. Indeed, there was one night when Iran and Israel indeed fought against each other in a major missile exchange.
But Yemen was never considered much of a threat at all. That all changed when they successfully attacked Tel-Aviv with an unmanned aircraft. That changed the equation. Yemen will probably threaten but stand down now a bit as they have felt the fury of the Israeli Air Force.
