Who’s rights are being trampled on in the Land of Israel? This is the question that so many haters of Israel like to throw out as a rhetorical question. The inference is clear. The strong State of Israel is not allowing the poor Arabs – the so-called “Palestinians” – basic human rights. Before President Jimmy Carter began to parrot this line of thinking, there were others who used it in order to blame Israel for all of the ills that occur to Arabs in the State of Israel.
Networks often feature video footage of squalor in Arab refugee camps that have become breeding grounds for terror activities against the State of Israel. Can you blame these poor Arabs? Don’t they just want justice and freedom? Aren’t they the Israeli version of the downtrodden minorities in the Western world?
The truth is that many – not most – of the Arabs in the State of Israel are indeed oppressed and do indeed live in squalor and filth. Many of the Arabs in the refugee camps deserve a better chance for upward growth and a life of freedom. They have a chance of getting out of their present-day situations, but it is a dangerous risk. They need to reject the values of their parents, their leadership and their surroundings. That choice may get them killed. But the problem remains radical Muslim culture that is filled with pure anti-semitism of the ancient kind.
The people who have oppressed and insist on keeping many Arabs in the situations they are in are the Arabs themselves, their leaders, and the world community that buys into the great lie – the fake human rights cause that has been labeled the “Palestine” cause.
The struggle for an Arab State west of the Jordan river is the struggle to destroy the State of Israel. This is not a new concept. It has been claimed repeatedly by the PLO, before Israel liberated the Lands of Judea and Samaria in 1967, and it has been repeated endlessly by Mahmoud Abbas and nearly every Arab leader in the State of Israel. Plain and simple, they want to destroy the State of Israel, not make peace with it. Their is no reason to not believe what they say.
This is so much so that the Arab leadership in Israel, labeled accurately by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo as a kleptocracy, wants the Arab refugee camps to stay in squalor in order to continue being the breeding ground for future terror activities against the State of Israel. The hundreds of millions of dollars of US taxpayer money that gets sent to the Palestinian Authority trickles down to the cronies of the corrupt Arab leaders. The money goes towards building terror tunnels and retaining a tight grip on their leadership positions.
Israel and the West should insist on holding back humanitarian support unless schools are funded that teach true narratives and not lies about the State of Israel. The fact remains that the State of Israel is the best place for an Arab in the Middle East to be born, to be sick, to get elected, to be a woman, to be a professional, and to be free.
Amnesty International and other human rights organizations are correct in fighting for the rights of Arabs in Israel. They are dead wrong in understanding the cause of the problem and what needs to be done to rectify it.
