Noah’s Ark
The story of Noah’s Ark happens at the very beginning of the Bible, in the book of Genesis. Noah is told by God to build an Ark, he is given the measurements and told to take animals in pairs. Hence the song “the animals went in two by two hurrah…hurrah”
The flood lasted 40 days and nights. After, Noah waited till the waters receded and then he and his family and the animals left the Ark. God then made a covenant with Noah with the intention not to destroy the world with a flood again. To this day we see the sign of this covenant and that’s the rainbow.
Proof
We’ve all read the stories from the Bible, whether it be about Noah, Abraham, Issac or Jacob or King David or any other character. However, imagine if we had proof that these stories took place when and where the Bible says. Well, thanks to the technology of today, archaeologists can carbon date the artifacts that have been found.
Carbon dating is a way to determine the age of an object, for example, stone or bones or copper. Any coins found to stone with writing on it, as shown in this video, it can be dated back so we know which time period it came from. How cool is it?
This tablet was found in Mesopotamia, which is now Iraq. It has a story written on it about a flood. Many nations have taken the story from the Bible, about the flood and adapted to their own cultures.
Finally, for me seeing these artifacts makes history come alive. It’s like reading a testimony from someone who lived during that period. But I’m a big history fanatic.
