Hasan Nasrallah’s speech yesterday is setting the stage for an all out war with Israel and potentially Cyprus.

Nasrallah spoke yesterday for about an hour and a half at an event in honor of Taleb Abdullah, commander of al-Nasser unit in Hezbollah, whom Israel killed last week.

Nasrallah pointed out that Hezbollah has more than 100,000 trained fighters at its disposal, which is more than what Hezbollah needs for an all-out war. According to him, Hezbollah rejected requests from other allies in the resistance axis to send tens of thousands of fighters to Lebanon to help.

Nasrallah pointed out that Hezbollah manufactures its own weapons in Lebanese territory and that it has a large number of UAVs. Nasrallah announced that the enemy should be afraid of a war with Hezbollah and that the enemy knows why. According to Nasrallah the war will be in the air, at sea and on land and that the enemy will not be able to withstand it. According to him, the ships in the Mediterranean Sea will become targets, similar to what is happening in the Red Sea.

Nasrallah issued a direct threat to Cyprus: “If you allow Israel to use your airports against Lebanon in the war, the ‘resistance’ will bring you into the circle of combat.” His words come against the background of Israeli Air Force training in Cyprus and “information in his possession” according to which Israel plans to use airports in Cyprus if its airports are damaged in the war with Hezbollah.

Nasrallah’s speech is being taken seriously in Israel and the US.  “We assess that at least some” Iron Dome batteries “will be overwhelmed,” a senior administration official told the CNN. Israel’s electric authority is warning that a full scale collapse could happen if enough missiles hit sensitive sites along the coast.

Despite the desire for the IDF upper brass to hold off on invading and attempting to destroy Hezbollah until after the Rafah campaign is finished, time is of the essence and so is the element of surprise. In the coming war both Israel and Hezbollah and perhaps Iran will be thrust into a cage match where only one comes our – Israel must act now.
