WhatsappAre planes bringing in illegal immigrants to New York in the hush-hush? Watch and judge for yourself. Why is this happening? Moreover, perhaps it’s a good thing? After all, isn’t it the immigrants who built up America to be what it is today?
Well, yes. It is true that immigration is what brought the United States from a population with 30 and 50 million people into becoming a nation of hundreds of millions of people. In the year 1800, there were 60,000 people in the City of New York. In the year 1900, that number was close to 3.5 million people. By 1930, that number had nearly reached 7 million people. This kind of a dramatic rise in population does not happen naturally. It is the result of an active policy to bring in masses with the spirit of the Statue of Liberty.
Emma Lazarus’s epic words that are one the Statue of Liberty say it better than anything else:
“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
These words are the spirit of offering the United States as a country based on freedom from tyranny and freedom for a better life. So, it would seem that immigrants should be encouraged to come. Why are so many people on the Republican side objecting to the immigration boost that has been going on under the Biden administration?
The answer is that what is going on today is nothing like what went on during the massive immigration waves before and after the turn of the 20th century. Immigrants who came to the United States a hundred years ago were vigorously checked for medical illness. Additionally, they were vetted over a process that took years. True, bureaucracy took much longer for everything 100 years ago. But the basic gist of immigrants coming in back then was not based on a policy of unbridled free immigration. Today, what is largely going on is free open-door immigration.
Most of all, people were genuinely running away from tyranny and poverty. Today, most of the immigrants are running to the United States in order to receive handouts. And the Democrats across the country are well aware of this. It used to take years in order to receive citizenship. But in today’s environment, the Democrat policies, specifically of New York City, has become one of not even encouraging citizenship. The focus of the Democrat party is now to win Texas in the national elections and to improve the chances of a Democrat-run Congress across the world.
Ultimately, a reasonable decision would be to encourage proper citizenship but not to treat all immigrants like they are all a blessing that will build America. The world is still too dangerous to allow nearly anybody in without checking. Some immigrants, even if it is only 10-20% pose a threat to America – from many angles. They need to be vetted. The present system is too chaotic.
