WhatsappThe Arab world and mass media are having a field day attacking Israel for demolishing illegal Arab homes in Jerusalem. What most of these attacks ignore is the fact that the demolition order came down from the High Court of Justice because the buildings are ILLEGAL! Another important fact mostly omitted is that most of the buildings were not occupied. Just look at the building being destroyed in the video below, it wasn’t even finished.
As for the celebration of the demolition staff, it has nothing to do with the fact that they were destroying Arab homes, and everything to do with the fact that their demolition plan was successful. Demolitions are not simple operations, and when it succeeds the operators are happy. It is that simple.
As for the legality of the demolition, the Israel Foreign Ministry issued the following statement:

Background
The illegal Arab buildings are all located within 400 meters of the security barrier. In 2011 an edict was established which prohibits the construction of buildings within such a short distance of the barrier.
The High Court of Justice in June rejected an appeal by residents to halt the demolitions. They claimed that they did not know about the edict.
The Civil Administration said the structures were demolished because the buildings were “in an area that falls under an injunction prohibiting building signed by the GOC Central Command on the outskirts of Sur Bahir in close proximity to the security fence,” the Civil Administration said.
The High Court of Justice ruled that the buildings could be demolished because the Civil Administration clarified that they “constitute a security danger to the area of the security fence”.
The razing of the structures set off a diplomat storm, with the UN, EU, France, Jordan and the Arab League all condemning the move, totally disregarding Israeli law.
It is a sight for sore eyes to see Israel finally destroy these illegal Arab buildings.
European Union Hypocrisy
Unfortunately, the state of Israel has done nothing about the over 28,000 illegal structures that the Arabs have been building illegally in Judea and Samaria with European Union funding. The EU is basically creating a terror state right in our midst endangering all the existing Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria.
The EU has protested heavily against Israel’s destroying these illegal Arab homes in Jerusalem because of “jurisdiction”. Yet, the sad irony is, that the EU itself has no problem going against international law, and its own signed commitment to peace documents, to illegally finance the 28,000 illegal Arab buildings across Judea and Samaria. Somehow when it comes to Israel, the EU is above the law. It can do whatever it wants to harm Israel, regardless of law and legal commitments.
