After the IAF attacked Iranian positions in the Hama area Thursday night, Hamas sent at least two rockets from Gaza as retaliation into Southern Israel on Friday night. In response the IAF attacked multiple targets in Gaza.

“The attack was carried out in response to rockets fired from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory this evening,” the IDF said in a statement. “The Hamas terror organization is responsible for all acts in and emanating from the Gaza Strip, and it will bear the consequences of terrorist acts against Israeli civilians.”

The region and area surrounding Israel is heating up as more and more Sunni Arab states join the Abraham Accords. The peace momentum is putting tremendous pressure on Iran and its allies. The more strategic or regional depth Israel has, the more flexibility and support it has to operate against Iran.

Although there is a widely assumed understanding that the incoming Biden administration will try to reengage with Iran and push back on Israel, they will find the Middle East has been radically changed by the Abraham Accords.

With less than a month until inauguration, there is a growing assumption that Israel and her new Arab allies will set out against Iran maximizing the free hand the Trump administration has given them to flatten Iranian presence in Iraq, Syria, and beyond.
