Hamas riots are now going on near Israel’s border for seven weeks. This Friday, Gaza residents hurled pipe bombs, rocks, grenades, and burned down the humanitarian aid station. In response, US envoy Jason Greenblatt called out Hamas for “taking Gaza back to the stone age.”

Burning down the Kerem Shalom humanitarian crossing station

“What an embarrassment, what desolation, what failure. Greenblatt said, “All parties interested in bringing change to Gaza need to face the reality that Hamas has failed its own people.”

Israel blames the Hamas terror organization for everything that happens in the Gaza Strip, both above and below the ground.  Of course, Hamas will bear the consequences for its actions. Israel cannot allow these Hamas riots to go on without swift action and a response.

Damage

The damage caused at the Kerem Shalom humanitarian crossing:

The fuel terminal has been rendered totally unusable.

Gas pipelines – Damage was caused to connection stations. The main gas line is now not functioning at all.

Fuel pipes – The fueling site sustained fire and fracture damages.

Aggregate conveyor belt – rendered unsuitable for operation at all. Arab terror caused significant damage to the entire structure.

Grain conveyors, food and livestock – Arab terror damaged the electricity infrastructure.

Security infrastructure of the humanitarian crossing – Damage was caused to fences, light poles and cameras.

Israeli Reaction

Due to the destruction and burning of the Kerem Shalom humanitarian crossing on the Palestinian side in the Gaza Strip last night by dozens of violent rioters under the auspices of the Hamas terror organization, the Minister of Defense, Mr. Avigdor Liberman, approved the IDF and COGAT, Maj. Gen. Kamil Abu Rokon’s recommendation to close the Kerem Shalom humanitarian crossing from tomorrow (Sunday, May 13th) until further notice. The crossing will stay open for humanitarian cases only.

The crossing will remain closed until the damages caused by the riots are repaired and will reopen in accordance with a situation assessment. The Hamas terror organization, which in recent weeks has been carrying out terrorist attacks in the guise of riots, is harming the well-being of Gazans and paralyzing their ability to go about their daily lives.

Israel and many countries around the world work to deliver goods such as food, equipment and fuel to Gaza’s citizens.  The Hamas prevents these initiatives through their actions.
