Israel is a country that is mostly desert. You would never know though when you look at the beautiful greenery and nature.
The Country That is Mostly Desert
Israel is a beautiful place. If you have never been there, it is definitely worth the trip. Aside from the history and spirituality, there is stunning scenery (which is also part of the history and spirituality)! Although Israel is a country that is mostly desert, it is one of the most picturesque places you’ll visit. Israelis have managed to make the desert bloom. The impossible becomes possible in God’s chosen land.
Using its Resources
Because Israel is filled with so much desert land, it has made Israelis become innovative and creative. The Jewish nation has created a flourishing and thriving country with its limited resources. It is truly unbelievable if you think about it and see what they have done. No one thought it was possible. In the later part of the 1800s, Mark Twain visited the land of Israel. He described it as a, “desolate country whose soil is rich enough, but is given over wholly to weeds-a silent mournful expanse….A desolation is here that not even imagination can grace with the pomp of life and action….We never saw a human being on the whole route….There was hardly a tree or a shrub anywhere. Even the olive and the cactus, those fast friends of the worthless soil, had almost deserted the country.”
Mark Twain would be shocked to see what Israel has become. Oh, how the times have changed!
