Israel Must Conquer Gaza

The IDF continues to systematically dismantle Hamas’s remaining military infrastructure in the Gaza Strip, but these latest operations also underscore a larger strategic reality: Israel cannot achieve lasting security through limited raids alone. The only durable solution is the complete conquest of Gaza, the destruction of Hamas as a governing and military force, and the establishment of a new security reality.

According to the IDF, four Hamas terrorists were eliminated during targeted operations in northern Gaza over the past week after they were identified advancing terrorist attacks against Israeli forces operating in the Strip.

Those eliminated included:

  • Wael Mahmoud Ali Labad, an anti-tank operative in Hamas’s military wing.
  • Muaz Mohammed Hassan Ahmad, another anti-tank operative.
  • Sameh Abu Kamil, a company commander in Hamas’s military wing.
  • Akram Ashraf Hamad Labad, a Hamas sniper.

In addition, the IDF destroyed multiple Hamas launch shafts and rocket launchers that had been prepared for attacks against Israeli troops and Israeli civilians.

These operations once again demonstrate the professionalism and intelligence capabilities of Israel’s security forces. Every terrorist removed from the battlefield saves Israeli lives. Every launcher destroyed reduces Hamas’s ability to threaten Israeli communities.

But tactical successes should not be confused with strategic victory.

As long as Hamas retains territory, underground infrastructure, weapons stockpiles, and command networks, it can regenerate. Eliminating individual terrorists while leaving the organization in control of parts of Gaza merely delays the next round of fighting.

History has repeatedly shown that terrorist organizations recover when they are allowed to retain territorial sanctuaries.

Israel’s objective should therefore be clear: complete military control over the entire Gaza Strip, the systematic destruction of every remaining Hamas military asset, and the creation of a long-term security framework that prevents any terrorist organization from rebuilding.

The IDF’s continued precision strikes are an important step in that process, but they should serve a broader campaign rather than an endless cycle of raids.

October 7 fundamentally changed Israel’s security doctrine.

The lesson is simple: security cannot be outsourced to ceasefires or deterrence alone. It requires control of the battlefield, denial of enemy capabilities, and the permanent removal of terrorist infrastructure.

Only by fully conquering Gaza and ensuring Hamas can never again rule or rearm can Israel provide lasting security for its citizens.
