In a recent operation, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that it killed four Gazan terrorists and captured two others who emerged from underground tunnels in eastern Rafah, a sector of southern Gaza under IDF control where dozens of Hamas fighters are believed to remain trapped below ground.

Early this morning, troops monitoring surveillance footage detected six militants surfacing from the tunnel network.

The Israeli Air Force subsequently conducted a precision airstrike on the group. Soldiers from the Nahal Brigade were then deployed to the site to search the area.

According to the IDF, the Nahal troops found one militant killed in the airstrike inside a nearby building, along with three additional armed fighters. The soldiers engaged and eliminated the three gunmen.

Two other Gazan terrorists inside the building surrendered and were taken into custody.

Over the past week, the IDF says it has killed more than 20 terrorists and apprehended eight others who attempted to escape the tunnel system in Rafah.

The IDF has stated that it will continue operations to neutralize or capture all remaining fighters located on the Israeli-controlled side of the Yellow Line, the demarcation established under the October ceasefire agreement that divides Gaza.
