WhatsappThe Islamic Jihad has launched 40 plus rockets at Israel in the last 24 hours. As the security cabinet huddled in Tel Aviv to discuss a response, the Iranian backed terror group threatened to unleash more havoc just a week before the Israeli elections.

Part of the challenge that the government has is to clamp down on the terror rockets while avoiding a full scale war this close to the elections. Of course this is exactly the challenge the Iranians want the Islamic Jihad to set up for Israel.
This is a Catch 22
If Israel attacks Gaza in full force this will create unknown results and may throw the elections into a complete state of chaos. However, the opposite is also true. Every day that goes by, the Likud’s main rival Blue and White headed by former Chief of Staff Benny Gantz can attack Bibi Netanyahu for complacency.
This is exactly why the first response was to attack Islamic Jihad in Syria and not the strip. After all, the Hamas has been silent due to Qatar’s infusion of cash. The challenge is closing up a long term truce with Hamas while crushing Islamic Jihad.
While Israel has struck back, the terror group appears to have left them no choice but to lead an all out assault backed politically by the Trump administration.
The ball is now in Israel’s court.
