Why Is Hamas Releasing Idan Alexander and Why Now?

Idan Alexander, the dual American-Israeli hostage is due to be released today without any need for a release of Arab “palestinian” murderers or a ceasefire on the behalf of Israel. How did this happen?

Prime Minister Netanyahu has insisted that it is because of the intense pressure the IDF is placing on Hamas and while this may have been a factor, it doesn’t explain the sudden capitulation and the timing - especially if the IDF is set to resume an expanded ground operation after Trump returns from the Middle East.

Steve Witkoff like Trump has indicated that it was the US administration that pulled it off. After all, this is the first time a US administration had ever negotiated directly with Hamas, but this makes little sense as well.

I wrote the following over at IsraelOSINT: “This is ultimately why Hamas has suddenly decided to release Idan Alexander, a dual Israeli-American. With Trump visiting Qatar this week, the Emir wants to show the Trump administration that it is he that holds the key to regional stability – not Israel, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.”

The Qataris from the beginning have always been calling the shots. Hamas, like Jolani in Syria have merely been their foot soldiers. If Trump wanted to end the war, close down Hamas, and release the remaining hostages he should focus on Qatar being the enemy not the ally he pretends it to be. Qatar’s game has always been to influence America’s foreign policy through financial influence. Their goal right now is to drive a wedge between the USA and Israel and it may in fact work.

Idan Alexander’s release is part of their power play to prove to Trump that it is in fact Israel’s war against Hamas that is holding up peace in the region, not the other way around. Will it work? Hard to know, but the Qataris are masters at flattering Western leaders, while funding Sunni Jihadists to rape, pillage, and kill those whom they consider apostates. Given the fact that they appear to have compromised Steve Witkoff as well as closing a deal with the Trump Organization to open a Golf Course in Qatar, one could say they are onto a very good start. Idan Alexander has been the icing on a cake that has already been baking for quite some time.
