WhatsappYesterday’s terror attack near the house of Itamar Ben-Gvir ended with one Jewish man killed and even more wounded. The terrorist was killed after being rammed by security forces and then finished off by an off duty soldier.
Whether or not yesterday’s terrorist attack was a direct assassination attempt on Itamar Ben-Gvir is not clear, but what is clear is that the security situation is spiraling out of control. The terrorist was able to enter into the Givat Avot neighborhood of Kiryat Arba through a border gate that had been closed for 20 years and only recently opened.
The lax security situation is driving up Itamar Ben Gvir’s popularity and may make him a substantial part of any Netanyahu coalition. Israelis are frankly tired of being sitting ducks by terrorists while they watch large swaths of land being turned over to Arabs.
Last night’s attack was tragic and yet the heroism shown by security services needs to be acknowledged and commended. However, if the right cannot put together a coalition after Tuesday’s vote, we should all expect much more of these tragedies to come.
