Following an April 9th meeting with Egyptian President El-Sisi, President Trump has directed his US national security team to designate the Sunni Muslim Brotherhood a terror organization. This is huge. They are not just a danger to Arab Muslim countries in the Middle East, they are also extremely dangerous in the West, including the USA.

The Muslim Brotherhood

This development is a huge step forward in dealing with the growing threat the Muslim Brotherhood poses not just to Middle Eastern countries but also to the USA and other Western countries.

It is the parent organization of many terrorist groups. Yet Trump is the first US President to deal with this. To the ignorance of most Americans, not only have past US Presidents ignored the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood organization, but one past President even supported them! Obama!!!

In Egypt, the Muslim Brotherhood tried to take over the country with Barack Obama’s help. Only due to an Egyptian military coup was the Muslim Brotherhood overthrown from power in Egypt. Yet they still remain a dangerous force in the country. Hence El-Sisi’s request to have it labeled a terror organization.

Muslim Brotherhood in the USA

The objective of the Muslim Brotherhood in America per their Explanatory Memorandum is “a kind of grand jihad to eliminate and destroy Western Civilization from within.  To “sabotage” its miserable house by their hands and hands of the believers so that God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions. Not one media account shared this information.  Instead, what they assert is that my concerns regarding connections of certain individuals and organizations to the Muslim Brotherhood are “alleged”, wild “conspiracy theories”, or “hate speech”. The more accurate media assertion would be that my assertions are a matter of evidentiary fact.”

Recent Development

The designation of the Muslim Brotherhood as a terror organization is long overdue.

In a statement, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House press secretary, acknowledged that the administration was working on designating the Muslim Brotherhood terrorists.

“The president has consulted with his national security team and leaders in the region who share his concern, and this designation is working its way through the internal process,” Ms. Sanders said.

John R. Bolton, the national security adviser, and Mike Pompeo, the secretary of state, support the idea, officials said.

But the Pentagon, career national security staff, government lawyers and diplomatic officials have voiced legal and policy objections, and have been scrambling to find a more limited step that would satisfy the White House.

If the Trump administration proceeds with designating the MB a terror organization, it is unclear what the consequences would be for the network of US organizations linked to the Brotherhood.

According to a 2004 article by The Washington Post, supporters of the Brotherhood “make up the US Islamic community’s most organized force” by running hundreds of mosques and business ventures, promoting civic activities, and setting up American Islamic organizations to defend and promote Islam. CAIR and the Muslim Student Association, on US college campuses, being the most known.
