UAV Hits Army Base, Wounding Dozens and Killing Four Is A Reminder That The War Is Not Won, Yet

Last night’s attack by a Hezbollah UAV on an army base in Binyamina wounded 67 and ended up killing four soldiers in the Golani brigade. These soldiers were not on the frontlines, but rather in training and in the dining hall when the drone hit.

The UAV attack yesterday was not only a surprise and tragedy, but underscored the fragile nature of Israel’s home front. Hezbollah might be losing ground in southern Lebanon, but they are learning ways breaking through our air defense systems by increasing the swarms of UAVs and rockets they are sending. Of course, this is not a long terms strategy for them as it depletes their rocket and UAV supplies at a faster rate than they can make them. However, their attacks are not meant to win at this point, but to cause maximum amount of fear and terror in the Israeli populace.

Iran wants Hezbollah to soften Israel ahead of its assumed attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran in order to cause the Jewish State to think twice. If this is the case, then it will only backfire and force Israel’s government to strike harder against the IRGC and regime in hopes they can be toppled.

Less than a day after the attack and proving this point, the commander of the Golani Brigade today spoke to his fellow Golani fighters on the murder of the four fallen soldiers: “The Golani Brigade remembers its fallen – we will march, fight and win in their memory”

The attack which tragically killed Omri Tamari, Yosef Hieb, Yoav Agmon, and Alon Amitay and injured more than 63 more young soldiers on their base should serve as a wake up call that despite the amazing achievements and progress our soldiers are making on the frontlines in Gaza and Lebanon, this war is far from over. Our air defense systems might be amazing, but they are not perfect. The demand must be total victory no matter the chaos it may bring to our own lives - after all we are all in this together.
