President Donald Trump, expressed strong confidence and optimism in a phone call with Israel’s Channel 14, stating, “Things are going great, better than expected. There’s never been anything like this before, and thank you very much.”
This conversation occurred amid the breakdown of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire. In a recent Fox Business interview, Trump discussed expanding the Abraham Accords, noting that Saudi Arabia has shown interest in joining. Additionally, in recent media statements, Trump claimed Hamas has agreed to disarm, emphasizing that, if necessary, disarmament could be carried out by him, an American delegation, a third-party country, or Israel.
During the call, President Trump avoided directly addressing Hamas’s ceasefire violation, maintaining an optimistic tone with remarks like “everything is fine.”
This aligns with a U.S. State Department statement warning that continued attacks by Hamas on Gazan civilians would prompt actions to protect Gaza’s residents and uphold the ceasefire’s integrity. Later this week, Vice President J.D. Vance and envoy Steve Witkoff are slated to visit the region to advance discussions on the deal and reduce tensions, as the U.S. seeks to prevent any setbacks in the negotiations.
Despite Trump’s optimism, there is tremendous pressure on both Hamas and Israel’s government to continue the war.
