Some people connect to prayer and G-d through music. Music definitely has the power to uplift the soul and create a feeling that words cannot.
A Prayer for a Better Year
This past year was definitely a different year; a year that no one could have ever imagined. Everything G-d does is for the good, but we cannot always see that.
And so we pray. We pray that we can see His good. We prayer that we can feel His presence and be close to Him. This specific prayer is called “Shema Koleinu.” Its words are recited multiple times throughout the High Holidays. In English it means “Hear our voice.”
Sometimes, just reciting the words of prayer is hard. It can be hard to connect, especially if we do not understand the meaning of the words.
But music has the power to connect us even when the words themselves feel distant.

Translation (Courtesy of the Artscroll Siddur):
Hear our voice, Hashem, our G-d, pity and be compassionate to us,
and accept – with compassion and favor – our prayer.
Bring us back to You, Hashem, and we shall return,
renew our days as of old.
We truly must turn to G-d in prayer and beg Him to have mercy on His people. Only He has the power to change things. He is the King of the world, but He is also our Father and wants us to speak to Him.
