The answer is that Western academia and media has a Pavlovian approach to Israel. If Israel attacks, they automatically accuse Israel of disproportionate use of force, of killing innocents, and stealing the Land of an ancient indigenous people called “Palestinians.”
This triple lie is actually an accurate description of exactly what the Arab population that attacks Israel does. They do whatever they can twith force in order to achieve their political goals. They kill Israeli women and children, rape ISraeli women, and yes, they burn Jewish children. And the only people in the Land of Israel that are indigenous are the Jewish people.
