WhatsappA 20 year old Jewish man was stabbed on Shabbat afternoon in the Givat Hamivtar by a 16 year old Arab terrorist.
The victim is in serious condition and was taken to the hospital for an emergency operation. Police tracked down the suspect in the Shimon HaTzaddik and neutralized him.
The officer first approached the suspect in a soccer field where he was identified. According to police, the suspect then turned around toward the officer. “The police officer who felt his life was in danger fired and neutralized him,” police said, publishing a photo of the object.
“I saw him running with an object in his hand and there were a lot of civilians in the area, there was a life-threatening danger to the civilians… the terrorist then turned around in my direction with the object in his hand in order to attack. I felt my life was in danger and fired one shot,” the officer said in a video published by police.
Terror has been on a constant rise over the last few months with no clear solution provided by the current government.
Jerusalem’s Deputy Mayor Arieh King called on the public to protect itself, saying, “I call on the neighborhood’s residents: Do not hesitate to respond and pay them back in kind.”
“Do not wait for the police, it will not act until the situation deteriorates (obviously, you will pay a heavy price by then)! Go out to protect your neighborhood, your homes!”
