Mark Levin believes that President Trump has offered the Iranians an offer that is close to impossible to refuse. Give up all of the chemicals and materials that create nuclear weapons or face complete economic destruction . As President Trump himself has said, “We have all of the cards.” The issue is that the Iranian leadership is not used to losing like this and is not used to rolling over and giving in. So, it will probably be a messy ending where the United States and Israel do indeed destroy more of the Iranian economy than they would like to. But in the end, Iran will capitulate and there will be a Civil War that the United States will not partake in with any soldiers – just some clandestine weapons supplying.
The entire argument that the right thing to do is to finish them off has many merits, but it is indeed a slippery slope argument that most of the United States is extremely concerned about. The ideal way to finish off the Iranian leadership is to have an effective coup. But that will probably not happen easily and not in one place, but in lots of small pockets all around Iran.
When the main goal of an Army is to protect the leaders from the people, and the Army is made up of hundreds of thousands of soldiers, the best way to foment an effective rebellion is to create massive disenchantment within the Army ranks via economic strangulation.
That is the only way that disgruntled officers will band together to fight their high-level officers – when their paychecks stop arriving and their lives begin to fall apart.
This is not an easy thing to accomplish. That is why this war against Iran is trickier than many realize. And Mark Levin is exactly right in being concerned that either President Trump will get things done or else the world will once again deal with an Iranian nuclear buildup that will threaten the entire Middle East and Europe.
