The High Holidays is a very powerful time period. And the Jewish people often use music and song to connect to G-d during this time.

The Power of the High Holidays

The original song of the tune in this video was sung by famous Jewish singers Mordechai Ben David and Ishay Ribo. It’s called “Ata Zocher.” Although this tune does have words to it—which are from the High Holiday prayers—hearing just the tune is very powerful. Sometimes, the simplest things are the most powerful. It is the simplicity that can reach deep into the soul. And that is what this video does.

During the Jewish month of Elul, the Jewish people take time to introspect and become closer to G-d as we near the days of Rosh Hashana and Yom Kipper—the Hoigh Holidays. We reflect. We think—about how to be better people, about how we can treat people more kindly, and about how we can improve our relationship with the Holy One. It’s all a process. Little by little. No one can do everything at once.

This video and song remind us to stop and think. To look inward. To listen to our soul. Music really has the power to reconnect us to what matters most and to what’s truly important in life. It can strip away the extra noise. Music can help us focus. Let it make you feel uplifted. Let it enter your soul.
