US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is expected to land in Israel today (Sunday) and meet with many senior officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Last night, just before his departure, Rubio posted on his X account: “On my way to Jerusalem. My focus will be on returning the hostages, finding ways to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches civilians, and dealing with the threat posed by Hamas.” He later added: “Hamas cannot continue to exist if the goal is to achieve peace in the region.”

Rubio will visit Israel and the United Kingdom from September 13 to 18. During his visit to Israel, he will present the US position on the war in Gaza and broader issues related to Middle East security, while reaffirming the US commitment to Israel’s security.

From September 13 to 18, Rubio will travel to Israel and the United Kingdom. In Israel, he will outline the US stance on the Gaza conflict and broader Middle East security concerns, while reaffirming the United States’ commitment to Israel’s security.

Rubio noted: “The relationship between the United States and Israel is very strong, and it will remain strong. The president wants the conflict to end and all the hostages, all 48, to be returned, dead or alive.” He added: “The president has already expressed displeasure over the attack in Doha, but this will not change the depth of the relationship between the United States and Israel.”
