Everyone has their view on how to handle the peace process in the middle east. Israel’s political spectrum has people that are far right, spreading to the far left. The left, hold a protest in the heart of Tel Aviv, one of Israel’s major cities.

The Radical Left

The people who see themselves at leftist support more liberal causes. In the 1940s many of the left advocated for a two state solution, Israel and Palestine. There are political parties, some have Ministers in the Government. There are also many Jewish-Leftist Activist Groups, making their voices known, how they feel about the situation in Israel.

There are political groups that support giving up land in Judea and Samaria, they supported the disengagement in Gaza in 2005. Many on the left believe Israel is not treating the Palestinian people with respect and the rights they deserve. There was a protest in Tel Aviv, a major city, where many Israeli’s live protesting the Army and supporting the Palestinian People.

The Israeli Army

The Army, known as the Israeli Defense Forces, created in 1948 when Israel was declared a State and was attacked on all fronts. At the age of 18 boys and girls are conscripted into the Army. There are many jobs the Army offers, whether in combat or an office job. Under the umbrella of the Israeli Army also falls the Israeli Airforce and the Navy.

The Army, along with the Navy and the Air Force are here to protect it’s citizens. They are here to defend Israel. Since the beginning Israel’s neighbors have been against it. Israel has been attacked many times. War of Independence, 6-Day War (1967), Yom Kippur War (1973), Lebanon War (1982). Not only wars, there have been many conflicts with Gaza, since Israel leaving in 2005. Operation Cast Lead (2008/9) Operation Pillar of Defense (2012) and Operation Protective Edge (2014).

If Israel did not have an Army there would not be an Israel. You would not ask America or the United Kingdom, or China or Russia to give up their Army. Would you? Why should Israel tell its soldiers to put down their weapons? The second Israel would dismantle the Army, its neighbors would attack and there would be no more Israel. Israel needs an Army.

The Arabs

From the beginning of the State of Israel, maybe even before, the Arabs and the Jews have had disagreements. Since the creation of the State, 1948, many of the Arabs have done what they can to dismantle the state. The Arabs teach their children to hate and kill Jews.

However, due to, mainly the media, the World has not seen Israel for its goodness. Israel has been pictures as the bad guy. This is not true, Israel, although with caution has welcomes the Arabs that stayed after Israel captured land during the 6-Day War. It has given them citizenship, the right to attend Universities, the right to vote in Elections. There are even Members of the Knesset, (Parliament) that are Arabs.

There are people who feel Israel is not treating the Arab citizens with the rights they deserve. Israel being a Jewish State, they feel only cares for its Jewish Citizens. The Army, that was made to protect the citizens is harming the Arab citizens. For many the picture is unclear, you need to be able to see the big full picture, which is not always shown in the media.
