Nikki Haley’s Full Comment about Defunding
“What we should do is, the countries that we give money to, do they believe what we believe?” she said. “Are they still actually wanting to be our partner and work with us? If they’re not and they’re shouting, ‘Death to America,’ why would we give them a single penny? And so you are seeing the efforts of de-funding those things that are not helpful to us and that aren’t in the United States’ interest.”
Haley on “Palestinian” Arab Refugees
“Right now, you have this interesting and kind of illogical situation where somebody who is a Palestinian, living in a territory he considers to be Palestine, can also say, ‘And I’m a refugee from Palestine. Here I am in Ramallah, I’m a refugee from Palestine,’” Many argue, wondering: “And why isn’t the Palestinian Authority, which claims to be governing these people (in Judea, Samaria and Gaza), assuming some responsibility as opposed to saying no, there’s a UN agency that does it, it’s funded by the donor community, which means us and a few others, we don’t need to worry about this, we can worry about other things.”
“It’s bigger than that, even,” the ambassador responded. “When you look at UNRWA, there’s a couple of issues there. First of all, you’re looking at the fact that, yes, there’s an endless number of refugees that continue to get assistance, but more importantly, the Palestinians continue to bash America.
“So the government continues to bash America. They have their hand out wanting UNRWA money. We were supposed to give them $130 million. We cut it in half, saying that they really needed to reform and fix the things they were doing, because they teach anti-Israeli and anti-American things in their textbooks. They are not necessarily doing things that would cause peace. They didn’t say thank you (for the money we did give). UNRWA had them protest in the streets that we didn’t give more.”
On Target, But…
Everything Nikki Haley says is correct except for one thing, it is not the Palestinian Authority government that bashes America, it is the Arabs who call themselves “palestinians”. They burn US flags all the time, and call out “death to America” as well. When US citizens are murdered in terror attacks, the Arabs in Judea, Samaria and Gaza hand out candies in celebration.

While the direction of Nikki Haley is 100% correct, her differentiating the Palestinian Authority/Hamas from the people is wrong. Their problem is not leadership, but religious ideology against Israel and the USA.
Haley on UNRWA
US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley also reflected upon the fact that UNRWA inflates the number of refugees. UNRWA claims that there are 5.2 million “palestinian” refugees. This is the only refugee population that grows year by year. UNHCR resettles refugees from all other places in the world, reducing the number of refugees day by day. But only “palestinian” refugees inherit the refugee status because they are used as pawns against Israel, kept in refugee camps, never to be resettled. Even the “refugees” who live under the Palestinian Authority and Hamas remain in refugee camps!
The Hypocrisy of the Arab World
Haley also called out the hypocrisy of the Arab world for bashing the USA for cutting back funding to UNRWA, while the Arab world gives almost no money whatsoever to help the Arabs in Judea, Samaria and Gaza.
“You are all so quick to wag your finger at us for not giving more (money). Where is Saudi Arabia? Where is United Arab Emirates? Where is Kuwait? Where are all of those countries? Do they not care enough about Palestinians to go and give money to make sure these kids are taken care of?”
Here too, Haley is a little mistaken. Iran and Qatar give money to Hamas to purchase rockets and build terror tunnels to attack Israel. So, there are Arab countries who give them money, yet it is money to destroy Israel, not to help the people in need.
Overall, the foreign policy direction Haley is leading at the UN is one based on truth and justice, aligns with the interests of the US taxpayer and US national security interests.
Finally, the world has a leadership holding the Palestinian Authority and the Arab world accountable for their actions and inactions. This administration will not allow any more free rides and ignoring the calls for “death to America”.
