Over a million American soldiers have died fighting for America since the Revolutionary War. Many, many more were injured. It is our duty to remember them.

American Soldiers

American soldiers are unique. There is no mandatory draft nowadays, yet people still volunteer. They want to protect the freedom that America represents. They want the world to be a better place. And that is truly heroic.

But tragically, sometimes that comes with a price. A heavy price. Too many have lost loved ones. Children, fathers, sons, brothers, wives, daughters, mothers, friends, and more. It is heartbreaking.

Remembering

It is our responsibility to remember those who died fighting for our freedom. Without them, America would not be what it is today. We would not be able to live freely. At the end of this video it says, “Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it. It flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it.”

Memorial Day in America is often viewed as a day of barbecues, sales, and family time. But those who lost loved ones are not celebrating. They are mourning. And Jews should be thankful, too, that America is a free country. That Americans fought and lost their lives in WWII. Everyone should be thankful for every war that these brave men and women fought in. We must show those who lost loved ones that they are not alone in mourning for their fallen heroes.
