With a few days left for Bibi Netanyahu to reach a final coalition agreement, the Knesset is passing a series of “controversial” legislation to allow for the assembly of the coalition.
From the “Deri Law” to the “Ben Gvir Law” a big shift in how the Israeli government is set to function is on one hand moving the country a sense of stability most citizens have sought after and yet on the other making the opposition angry.
One of the most important changes is the law making the Minister of National Security, which will be Itamar Ben Gvir in complete control of police and security policy, which is far different than it is now. Presently, it is the police commissioner which decides on public security policy.
Although the police commissioner has fought against Ben Gvir’s changes, it appears many rank and file policemen are quietly cheering on the incoming Public Security Minister.
