In a bid to find alternative ways to treat coronavirus patients and make up for a lack of traditional supplies, Israel’s elite navy unit has found a to lend a hand.
Normally this unit undertakes dangerous missions around the world, often diving deep under the water. Now the Shayetet is offering its oxygen tanks to COVID-19 patients.
These oxygen tanks have been converted by the unit to now be deployed above the water – in hospitals across Israel. This has helped alleviate the supply shortage.
Although it is not a complete replacement for respirators, it has helped to affect the supply shortage the pandemic has wrought – especially on Israel’s elderly.
