Israeli invention helps combat cholera epidemic in Africa

Africa is the poorest continent in the world.  Most of the continent still lives in third world conditions.  Even basic things like clean water are a major challenge throughout large chunks of Africa.

There are many philanthropists who have poured hundreds of millions of dollars into Africa.  They should be applauded.  However, one needs to ask why basic things like clean water are still a challenge after so much investment.

Israel to the Rescue

Israel has become world famous for it’s rescue units whenever tragedy hits anywhere in the world.  Rescue units of doctors, nurses and other rescue workers jump out of their beds and fly to the four corners of the world when necessary.

But this is more important.  Sometimes the greatest inventions are as simple as a sophisticated water filter system that does not need any electricity.  That may seem like a nice thing to have for a backyard swimming pool in a modern country.  But in Africa, it could provide health for millions.

The fight against cholera and malaria

It is so fitting that Israel of all places came up with the life-saving water filter system.  After all, hundreds if not thousands of Jewish settlers succumbed to malaria when they drained the swamps of the Land of Israel in the early 1900’s.  Dirty water was as much of an enemy to the returning Chosen People as were Arab marauders.  So, the fight against dirty water is not a new phenomenon in Israel.  It pre-dates the State of Israel.

This is Israel at it’s finest. Simple inventions through out-of-the-box thinking that impact the lives of millions.

Israel is truly a light unto the world in so many ways.
