When Israel celebrated its 73rd Independence Day, it saluted its medical staff during the torch-lighting ceremony on Mount Herzl.

Mount Herzl Torch Lighting Ceremony

Wow, this is really a beautiful initiative. Koolulam is an amazing organization. Their goal? “Koolulam is a social-musical initiative aimed at strengthening the fabric of society. The project centers around mass singing events in which large groups of non-professionals come together to form a collaborative musical creation. Koolulam brings together people from all walks of life to do one thing: stop everything for a few hours and just sing – together.” In one of Koolulam’s more recent events, they gathered 300 of Israel’s medical care workers to sing together. It took place on Independence Day at the famous torch-lighting ceremony on Mount Herzl.

The song is about imagining a better world without sadness. When you see all the people singing in this video, you can see how diverse they are. Men and women, Arabs and Jews, religious and non-religious – it’s really beautiful. People who are different can join together in peace.

And that’s really what Israel is all about. People of all types live in one country. Yes, there are challenging times. Things are not always perfect. But when we sing together in unison – literally and metaphorically – things don’t seem as bad. The world needs to know that Israel wants to live peacefully with its Arab neighors. Just take a look at these 300 health care workers, and you can already tell that Israel is a diverse and beautiful country.
